The weather is getting consistently warmer, trees are starting to bud, birds are chirping, and die-hard campers are buzzing… that’s because the start of the best season of the year is rapidly approaching… camping season! Let’s get real, the die-hard campers have been waiting for this day since the end of the 2016 camping season.
Many campgrounds open as early as mid April while the majority open early-mid May. We are working hard to get River Road Campground open Memorial Day Weekend. Mick, Lori, Pete, Mark, Lisa and the rest that I may have forgot to mention are currently working hard to get the campground prepared for opening – cleaning up after the winter months, getting the event schedule completed, and more importantly taking reservations. If you have a favorite spot in the campground and/or favorite time of the season you like to visit, it’s important to make your reservations well in advance.
In anticipation of the start of the camping season, we have created our own countdown, to help you prepare for the upcoming season…
5.) Start making your plans. As mentioned, it’s important to make reservations early, especially if you’d like to go camping during a holiday weekend or more popular time of the season.
4.) Tell your family and friends. It’s often more fun to camp with others, so if you have a camping trip in mind and wouldn’t mind some company be sure to mention it to your friends and family. Therefore if they’re interested in going, they can start planning their camping trip (or trips) as well.
3.) Check your camping gear. Time and the elements can do a number on camping gear. Whether you have an RV, go camping in a tent or even prefer to rent a cottage, be sure that your camping equipment is in tact and usable. If something needs to be fixed, start looking to do that now.
2.) Consider new camping gear. Now that you’ve checked out your existing camping gear, check out the latest options in camping equipment. Each new camping seasons brings new equipment to help making camping easier and often time more fun. See what’s available and if it interests you.
